Barbara Caioli
Director
Teaches: Ballet, Modern, Choreography, Contact Improv, Core Support for Dancers, Baby and Me, Toddler and Me
Barbara Caioli began her dance training in her native Italy at the age of five. Her work reflects her fascination with space and time. She holds a BFA in Dance Choreography from Cornish College of the Arts, where she studied under Patricia Hon, Wade Madsen, Deb Wolf, Kitty Daniels, Tonya Lockyer, Lodi McClellan, Michele Miller and Gerard Theoret, studying Graham, Bartenieff, Laban, Horton, Limon, kinesiology and injury prevention. Barbara performed locally at On The Boards and Velocity in Seattle, until she founded 127th St. Dance Company in 2009. A professional touring company, 127th St. Dance hosted works of resident and guest choreographers, which allowed dancers and audience members to experience dance as a concert of diverse, visually stunning, and complex movement. Barbara’s work speaks to the human condition and seeks to communicate and unite all people, by illuminating the shared experience of life. “Specific, fluid, raw, and confidently excellent, the dancers showed a commitment to risky jumps and massive falls which made them both intimidating and fun to watch.” – Seattle Dances, of Barbara Caioli’s “La colpa tua”
